About us

The Macedon Ranges Film Society (MRFS) is a membership-based club and we do not sell tickets for films. Admission is for members only; memberships are available on a three, six or twelve month basis.

We are an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation.  We do not operate as a commercial cinema but as a club and the following describes how your annual membership fee of $80 is spent –
The Society’s operating overheads include hall hire, purchase of discs (DVD. Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray),
payments for screening rights, General and Public Liability insurance, membership of the Federation of Victorian Film Societies, film notes printing, sundry administrative expenses, and refreshments.

Our membership for 2025 is closed.

Please register your interest for the 2026 season and
we’ll notify you when 2026 membership is available.

  • All films are chosen with a broad interest in mind, ensuring that a wide selection of genres is shown and takes into account films suggested by members. Our annual program of eleven films screened each month on the second Friday – February to December.

  • A list of films is distributed at the beginning of the year (see latest program).

  • Informative film notes are provided on every film night.

  • Films are usually around 90 – 120 minutes in length  (so it’s not a late night).
We show our films in a cinema-like setting utilising 4K projection and high quality sound.

  • Supper and beverages are provided on film night.

  • MRFS has its own film library for access by members. You’re welcome to borrow a film for the duration of one month. Please note, not all films are available for loan so please enquire by email or enquire personally on film night.
